Virgil C. Beck, Winterset

Graveside services for Virgil C. Beck, 90, Winterset, who died Jan. 14 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Tuesday, Jan. 17 at the Waukee Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Hakes officiating.

Mr. Beck was born in Warren County on June 21, 1898, the son of Soloman and Kathryn Seebolt Beck. He was a bus driver and had been employed for over 30 years with Jefferson Transportation.

On Feb. 29, 1920 he was married to Helen Hakes in Des Moines. He had resided at Care Center North in Winterset since 1987. He had lived in St. Charles since 1963 and was a member of Amalgamated Transit Union.

Survivors include a brother, Austin Beck of Romaland, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a half brother and a sister.
