Mary Beard Death Last Friday

Mary J. Beard, 77, wife of the late Clyde Beard, died Friday, July 29, 1977, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born June 6, 1900, the daughter of Thomas and Eletha Brown Janes. Her birthplace was Madison County.

Mrs. Beard was married to Clyde Beard at Osceola in 1923. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1975. Mrs. Beard was a homemaker, affiliated with the Methodist church.

Survivors include two sons, Forrest and Jerry Beard of Indianola and five daughters, Dorothy Young, Darlene Beard, Wanda Johnston and Rae Ann Hartley, all of Winterset and Jacqueline Wickett of Indianola.

Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a brother, Hasa Janes of Indianola.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 1 at 2 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with burial at the Winterset Cemetery. Rev.Dr. Paul Hann officiated.
