He was trained in the United Presbyterian Faith but later in life placed his membership with the Worthington Methodist church.

When 19 years of age he had the misfortune of loosing his hand in a corn shredder accident, but in spite of the handicap he choose farming as his vocation. It was a magnificent sight to see the manner in which he could handle four and six horse hitches.

After the death of his wife, Wilma, he returned to the home of his brother, C. O. Clements where he lived for several years.

On June 17, 1913 he was united in marriage with Carolyn Brown. One son, Virgil came to share this home.

Mr. Clements was a man of good habits and of a very jovial disposition, a great lover of children and was loved by them. He was indeed a father to his step-children, John and Mildred.

In 1926 the family moved to a farm near Pitzer where they lived until Mr. Clements health failed in 1945. Then coming to Earlham to make their home in 1951.

On Sunday morning Mr. Clements became ill with the flu, it developed into pneumonia and he was taken to the hospital Monday where he failed rapidly, and death summoned him to his Heavenly home Tuesday evening at about 10 o'clock.

Miles, Joan, Carolyn, Sondra and Philip Miles. Delores Kay and Jack Eugene Brown. One sister Mrs. Lizzie Burke of Spokane, Washington, a host of nieces and nephews and friends near and far.

So be my passing, my task accomplished, my wages taken and in my heart some late lark singing, let me be gathered to the quiet west, the sundown, peaceful and serene.
