Obituary

Died, at his home at Worthington, Madison county, on the 8th day of May, 1888, William H. Bowlsby. He was born in Delaware county, Indiana, in 1841; was married to Maria Duff in 1861, and came to this county in September 1861. He united with the Methodist Episcopal church May 1882.

Mr. Bowlsby was a steady, hard working man, one who planned carefully and reached financial success. He bore the brunt of hardship with his fellow soldiers in the army, and his exposure to malaria disease laid in some measure the foundation for his prolonged suffering which ended in his death. For the last two years he was a confirmed invalid. His great love of life led him to fight disease almost to the last moment.

As he drew near the closing hour he seemed to feel the great necessity of a more through preparation for its solemnities, and heartily engaged in prayer and meditation. He reached the happy result of experiencing a devoted love for everybody, and died in peace. He leaves a sorrowing companion and five children to struggle on through life.

A large concourse of friends and neighbors were present at the funeral services, which were conducted by his pastor, Rev. C. C. Mabee.
