Winterset Madisonian - August 30, 1995

Benjiman David Payne, 12, of Winterset, died of a gunshot wound Aug. 22, 1995 at his home. Funeral services were Aug. 25 at the Early Chapel Christian Church in Madison County. The Rev. David Clark officiated the services and burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 24, 1982 in Winterset to Kent H. and Leslie E. (King) Payne. He was a student at the Winterset Junior High School and a junior farmer. He was a member of the Early Chapel Christian Church in Madison County. He participated in 4-H Town & Country; DARE; Winterset Middle School chorus; CHAMPS; little league baseball and football.

He was preceded in death by one grandmother and one grandfather.

Surviving relatives include his parents; one brother, Jordan and one sister, Samantha, all of Winterset; grandfather, Leo King of Winterset; grandmother, Enolia Payne of Winterset; great grandparents, Anna King of St. Charles, Carmen Spindle of Woodward, Omer Payne of Earlham, and Vera Young of Winterset.
