Norman Bartunek, Winterset

Norman E. Bartunek, 70, of Winterset, died May 4, 2004, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 7, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Creston.

Norman Bartunek was born July 15, 1933 in Charles Mix County, S.D., to Ernest and Anna (Jurczewsky) Bartunek. On April 27, 1963, he married Janice Overholtzer. Norman served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a farmer for many years. He was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 1842 of Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Bartunek and a brother, Gary Bartunek.

He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Carpenter of Hanover Park, Ill., and Tina Bartunek of Winterset; a brother, Wilbur Bartunek of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Mildred Biesman of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice in Johnston or Middle River Hospice in Winterset.
