Former Truro Resident Dies

Carroll Vernon Barnes, son of Isam K. and Daisy Muselman Barnes, was born near Balaton, Minn., on Sept. 9, 1930, and died at his home in Lakewood, Calif. on Saturday, Jan 17 1980.

He graduated from Truro High School in 1947 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the U.S. Navy, spending 21 years in the service. Besides duty in the continental United States, he spent four years in Hawaii, three years in the Belgium Embassy in Brussels, three years in Japan and one year in the Philippine Islands. After his return from the service he accepted a position with the J.C. Penney Co. in Los Angeles, Calif.

On July 18, 1952 he was united in marriage to Doris Lamb in Eau Claire, Wis.

On Dec. 25, 1968, he married Patricia Camden of Los Angeles, Ca. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his son and daughter, Robyn and Charis of Redlands, Calif.; six step children, Rodney, Robert, Ronald, Robin, Rolynda and Rhonda and two grandsons.

Also surviving are his mother Daisy Barnes, a sister Esther Neidt both of Truro, two brothers, Glenn of Waterloo, Kenneth of Reinbeck.

Memorial services were conducted in The Church of Our Fathers, in Cypress, Calif. by Navy Chaplain James P. Poerschke. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cypress. A full military service was used.
