Death of Mrs. Hervey

Mrs. D. C. Hervey, whose serious illness we noted last week, passed away Friday evening, the 26th inst., after a lingering illness. Her funeral occurred Sunday, the services being conducted at the M. E. church by the pastor, and attended by a great number of relatives and also a large concourse of friends and acquaintances, thus testifying to the esteem in which the deceased was held in the community. A friend hands in the following particulars:

Annie E. Williams was born in Morefield, Harrison county, Ohio, July 9, 1841, where she grew to womanhood. She was married August 11, 1860, to David C. Hervey, of Wheeling, Va., residing there and afterwards in Ohio, till April 1887 when the family removed to Winterset, Iowa, where they have since resided. She leaves behind her a bereaved husband and two children.

In early life Mrs. Hervey became a Christian and united with the Methodist church of which she continued to consistent member till her death. Her life was one of peculiar sweetness, beautifully exemplifying the Christian grace of faith, hope and charity, and the months of disease and suffering that preceeded (preceded) her death gave evidence of the fortitude and resignation of her spirit. Her hope was bright and her faith unshaken to the last. With more than ordinary emphasis may it be said of her, “Her end was peace.”
