Jackie Banks, Winterset

Jackie Banks, 68, of Winterset, died September 15, 1997 at his home. He had suffered from cancer. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. September 18 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with the Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Burial will follow at the North McDonald Cemetery in Madison County. Visitation will be today Wednesday, from noon until 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m.

He was born in Horton, Kansas on July 12, 1929, to Jack Walter and Frances (Jennings) Banks. On April 13, 1977, he married Mary Ann Allen in Winterset. He was a self-employed trucker who lived in Winterset for the last 26 years after coming from California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Pauline Banks; one son; and one infant sister.

Surviving relatives include his wife; three sons, James Walter Banks of Reno, Nev., Michael Allen Banks of Fowler, Calif., and Patrick Daniel Banks of Winterset; two daughters, Judith Kay Carr and husband Richard of Chino Hills, Calif., and Lucretia "Criss" Banks of Albuquerque, N. M.; one sister, Betty Jean Shields and husband Harlind of Sidney, Neb.; and 12 grandchildren.
