Patrick Banks of Winterset, a resident of this community for 37 years, died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines Sunday, March 4. He was 61 years of age. He was born March 17, 1911, a son of George and Myrtle Hall Banks.
Mr. Banks was a native of Warren county, where he was born and spent his early life. He was a graduate of Martensdale High School.
During his residence in this community he was employed by M. Young and Company, and had been employed by Madison County for several years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Irene Davis, to whom he was married March 12, 1936 in Greenfield.
He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Gerald Harsh of Adel; two step-children, Wallace Dick of Des Moines and Mrs. Gerald Paullin of Winterset; eight grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.
He leaves the following brothers and sisters: Ted Banks of Indianola, Clarence, George and Roy Banks of Prole, Mrs. Paul McClintic and Mrs. Roy Tipton of California, Mrs. Raymond Voss of Prole and Mrs. Eddie Voss of Des Moines.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the First Christian Church in Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E. E. Jandebeur. Burial was to be made in the Winterset Cemetery.

Patrick (pat) Banks, son of George and Myrtle Hal Banks, was born March 17, 1911 on a farm near Indianola, in Warren County, Iowa, and died March 4, 1973 at the age of 61 years, 11 months and 15 days.
He was united in marriage to Irene Davis March 12, 1936. They resided in Winterset for a number of years, later moving to a farm east of Winterset where he lived until the time of his death.
To this union one daughter was born.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife Irene; daughter, Patricia, and her husband, Gerald Harsh, of Adel, Ia; three grandchildren, Sandra, Jeff and Jennifer; two step-children Wallace Dick of Des Moines and Mrs. Margery Paullin of Winterset, five step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Theodore Banks of Indianola, clarence George and Roy Banks of Prole, Mrs. Cecile McClintic of Long beach, Calif., Mrs. Marie Voss of Prole, Mrs. Lorena Voss of Des Moines, Mrs. Lucille Tipton of Ridgecrest Calif., and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held March 7, 1973 at First Christian Church in Winterset with the Rev. E.E. Jandebeur officiating. Interment was in the Winterset Cemetery.
