Betty Ball, Winterset

A memorial service for Betty Ball, 82, Winterset, who died Sept. 9 at the Bethesda Care Center in Winterset, was held at the First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Sept. 12, with the Rev. Clarence and Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. The body was cremated and the ashes were to be buried at the Cedarville Cemetery in Cedarville, Ill.

Born at Pleasant Valley, Conn., on Feb. 9, 1907, she was the daughter of John and Nellie Clingman Dickson. She was married to Frederic E. Ball on Aug. 11, 1929, at Wheaton, Ill.

A homemaker, Mrs. Ball had lived here six years, coming from Galesburg and northern Illinois. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom.

Mrs. Ball attended Mt. Morris College in Mt. Morris, Ill., and she graduated from Wheaton, College in Illinois in 1928. She had a longtime interest in art and music and had been church organist for 10 years. Her two grandfathers, father, husband and a son were Methodist ministers, and she spent 30 years teaching youth and adults. She was also an active member of the WCTU.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Frederic D. Ball, M.D. of Los Lunas, N.M., Ronald D. Ball of Montpelier, Vt., and Alan D. Ball, M.D. of Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters.
