IDA LUCILE YOUNG, St. Marys

Funeral services for Ida L. Young, 94, were held Thurs., May 14 at Peterson Funeral Home, Indianola, with the Rev. James Patrick officiating. Mrs. Young died of a heart ailment May 12, 1992 at Village Care Center in Indianola.

She was born in Patterson on June 14, 1897 to Thorton and Martha (Harlan) Young and grew up in Patterson, attending school in the former town of Tileville, near Patterson and Winterset. She married Hugh Young in May 1916, and they lived in the St. Marys rural area for 75 years. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972, four brothers, three sisters and four children.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne of St. Charles and Ivan of Des Moines; three daughters, Ruth Duff of Norwalk, Ruby Jones of New Virginia and Maxine Mathis of Waterloo; a brother, Don of Indianola; 27 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Burial was at Union Chapel (South) Cemetery in Madison County.
