CLOYD BAKER DIES IN WEST DES MOINES

Cloyd W. Baker, a native of the Peru community, and a long-time resident there, died last Wednesday, March 17, at his home in West Des Moines, where he had lived since 1942. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. Baker was born at Peru Dec. 2, 1886, a son of William and Emma Baker. His early life was spent on a farm there. He also worked for several years as an automobile mechanic in Peru, until his health forced him to return to the farm. He moved to West Des Moines in 1942.

He was married April 2, 1913 to Elnora Ergenbright of Peru. They observed their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1963.

He was a member of the First Christian church of West Des Moines.

Surviving are his wife; two children, Mrs. Mildred Cook of West Des Moines and Gene Baker of Des Moines; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Frey of Des Moines and Mrs. Gertrude Fenimore of Winterset; and a brother, Grover Baker of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the McLaren Funeral home. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
