Harriet Garmon, Norwalk

Harriet Alice Garmon, 89, of Norwalk died Jan. 3, 2005 at Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 7, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor John Safford officiating. Burial was at Jefferson Township Cemetery, Madison County.

Harriet Garmon was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Madison County to Austin and Evalena (Alexander) Woods. Most of her life was spent in Madison County. For the past 20 years, she resided in Norwalk. During her working career, Harriet had been a beautician. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ward, Albert and Nelson Woods, and two sisters, Vera Woods and Mary Smith.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Leroy Knight and Van A. Garmon III, both of Des Moines; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
