ROBERT B. AUSTIN SERVICES AT LORIMOR

Funeral services were held Oct. 1 from the Lorimor Methodist church for Robert B. Austin former Winterset barber, whose death had occurred Sept. 29 at Memorial hospital in Winterset.

Mr. Austin was a life-time resident of Union and Madison counties and was 81 years of age at his death. He was born at Lehigh Feb. 18, 1886, a son of Robert B. Austin, Sr., and Mary F. Hilliard Austin. He came to Shannon City as a youth, and spent the remainder of his life in Madison and Union counties, with the exception of a few years as a homesteader in Minnesota.

He was married July 1, 1908 at Creston, to Mattie J. Wilson. They were parents of eight children. A daughter, Betty, and a son, Robert, preceded him in death, on Sept. 13, 1965.

Mr. Austin spent most of his early years as a barber, and his later life on a farm near Lorimor, from which he had retired in 1953.

Surviving are his four sons, Leonard Austin of DeSoto, Forrest Austin of Afton, Ivan Austin of Peru and Jerry Austin of St. Charles; two daughters, Mrs. Frieda Dodd of Omaha and Mrs. Eunice Harper of Lorimor; 24 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

The Rev. Azel Smith of Creston and the Rev. James Seibert of Murray officiated at the funeral services.
