Former Resident Dies In California

Lota Armstrong, a long time resident of Winterset, passed away at Singing Springs Convalescent Home in Garden Grove, California, April 20. She would have been 85 years old, June 2 of this year.

She was married to Loren Armstrong of Peru, where they spent most of their life on their farm in Madison County. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1950. Her sister, Goldie Armstrong and half sister, Mable Haines, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Wilma Baldry and Marjorie Farrens, two sons-in-laws, Hugh Baldry and Don, California. She also leaves two granddaughters, Patricia Searcy of Garden Grove and Peggy Herron of Anaheim, California; and four great grandchildren.

She was an active member in the Rebecca Lodge of Winterset and attended Zion Church, Madison County, where she was a member and pianist.

Mrs. Armstrong was employed several years at the Ben Franklin Store in Winterset.

She moved to California in May 1970 to be with her family in Garden Grove.

Services were conducted Saturday April 22, 1978, 2:00 p.m. at Bryan Mission Mortuary in Garden Grove, California.

Graveside Services and interim were conducted by Dwight Ingram, Monday, April 24, at 2:00 p.m. at the Winterset Cemetery.
