John Armstrong Was Leader In Badger Creek Watershed

John Armstrong was a native of Stuart, but had lived practically all of his life in the Jefferson township area of Madison county. He was a son of John R. and Christina Vaudt Armstrong. He was a leader in his community. He was active in the Van Meter E.U.B. church, and was a director of the Booneville Cooperative.

Mr. Armstrong was also active in the Badger Creek watershed project. He was chairman of the Badger Creek Watershed committee and a trustee of the watershed sub-district.

He was married Feb. 14, 1923 to Gladys Keesey who survives him. He also leaves seven children: Mrs. Grover Edmiston of Davenport, Mrs. Donald Beaman of Taylor, Wisc., Mrs. Ray Dershem of Des Moines, Eugene Armstrong of Booneville, Mrs. Charles Richardson of Columbus, Ind., Mrs. Wayne Dudde of Des Moines and John R. Armstrong at home. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren; a brother, Albert Armstrong of Adel; and two sisters, Mrs. H. R. Jensen of DeSoto and Mrs. Lucille Lewis of DeSoto.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Van Meter Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. Milton Mench.

Burial was made in the Van Meter cemetery.
