Funeral services for Jack W. Anthony, 47, will be held Fri. May 29 at 11 a.m. at Chapel of Faith Church, Indianola. Visitation will be held after 12 noon on Thursday at Overton Funeral Home, Indianola. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and a prayer service will be at 8 p.m. Mr. Anthony died of cancer May 25 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines.
Born in Winterset, he lived in Adel for most of his life, residing in Indianola for the past eight years. He married Judy Brown on December 9, 1973. He worked for Grove Masonry in Des Moines, was Warren County Substance Abuse Director from 1985 to 1990 and was a stock car driver in the 1960s at Stuart and at the Des Moines fairgrounds. He was a third-generation member of the Anthony and Sons Masonry of Adel and a member of Brick Layers Local #2, Alcoholics Anonymous and Chapel of Faith Church in Indianola.
Surviving are his wife; his father, Teddy of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a brother, Alan of Winterset, Linda Johnson of Spring Lake, Mich.
The body will be cremated Memorial contributions may be made to Jack W. Anthony Memorial Fund.
