DEATH OF JOSIAH EASTER

Josiah Easter, well known Madison county farmer, died at his home in Jackson township, Sunday night, May 13th, after a week of serious illness, with heart trouble and complications. Mr. Easter, who was seventy three years of age, had been in poor health the past year, but had only been confined to his bed for a week.

The deceased was a son of William C. and Amelia Easter, and was born at Brighton, Iowa, September 7, 1860. Among his earliest recollections was the return of his father from the Civil War in 1865. At the age of eleven years he moved with his parents to Madison county. In 1879 he was married to Miss Emma Ford. They later moved to Nebraska, and on to western Kansas. Later they moved to the Minor Ford farm, where they have since made their home.

The Easters were the parents of ten children, eight of whom are living: Miss Lenna Easter and Mrs. Olive Dodson of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Ada McCorkle of DeSoto, Mrs. Mildred Benjamin of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Grace Frazier of Chicago; Ersie Easter, Cedar Falls, Frank of Truro, and William of Winterset. There are sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mrs. Easter also survives him.

Mr. Easter was always actively engaged in farming and when not busy spent most of his time reading books and magazines and took a keen interest in the affairs of the day.

The Rev. A. R. Weed, pastor of the West Star-Worthington churches conducted his funeral service at his home Tuesday, May 15th, at 2 o'clock and burial was in the Stringtown cemetery.
