Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 11 for Alfred Drake of Patterson. He died Wednesday, February 8, 1978 at Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 83.
He was born January 18, 1895, in Madison County, the son of Wilimington and Effie Mae DeVault Drake. He was a retired farmer, a veteran of World War I, a member of the VFW and affiliated with the Methodist Church.
Mr. Drake married Mary Louise Brown on August 25, 1930 in Creston. She survives her husband.
Other survivors include a daughter, Ethel Eloise (Mrs. Franke) Brennecks of Ackley; a son, Allen Drake of Martensdale; ten grandchildren; a brother, Cecil Drake of Tempe, Arizona; and two sisters, Deva Danner of Creston and Loretta Drake of Yuma, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Officiating at Saturday's 10:20 a.m. services was Rev. Scott Grotewold. Burial was made at the Union Chapel Cemetery.
