Anna Kathryn Young, 87, of Winterset died of heart failure June 19, 1998, at Madison County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 23, at the First Christian Church in Winterset with Dr. Bobby G. Dickerson officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Anna Kathryn Young was born June 6, 1911, in Madison County to Asahel Earnest and Mary Jane (Jones) Read. She married Clarence Young Feb. 10, 1929, in Winterset. Kathryn was a homemaker, having resided on a farm in Clarke County from 1939 until 1973, when she moved to Madison County. She was a member of the Mary-Faith Circle and the First Christian Church in Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, one sister, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
She is survived by six sons, Darwin (wife Gretchen) of Des Moines, Dean (wife Enid) of Dysart, Dwight (wife Susan Jo) of Storm Lake, Wayne (wife Jo) of Winterset, Wyman (wife Janice) of Mesa, Ariz., and Wesley (wife Joan) of Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter, Mary Ann Olson (husband Gerald) of Murray; 16 grandchilden; and 42 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
