Myron P. Allen, Sr., Winterset

Funeral services for Myron P. Allen, Sr., 76, were held Sat., Feb. 22 at First Christian Church with the Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. Mr. Allen died of a heart ailment February 19 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.

A lifelong Madison County resident, he was born June 21, 1915 to Fred and Gertrude (Caudle) Allen and married Eloise Travis September 16, 1940 in Bethany, Mo. He had been employed as a truck driver for Madison County Secondary Roads Department. He was a member of First Christian Church, World War II U.S. Navy veteran, member of American Legion Post 184 of Winterset, former member of Winter-Sets square dance club and a former square dance caller.

He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.

Surviving are his wife of Winterset; three sons, Myron P. Jr., of Peru and Steve and Tim, both of Winterset; a daughter, Claudia Mozena of Urbandale; three brothers, Herb of Des Moines, Jack of Dallas, Texas and Roy of Bellflower, Calif.; four sisters, Mae Baker of Winterset, Francine Adams of Lake Elsenore, Calif., Lucile Burkholder of Riverside, Calif. and Floy Torvid of Monrovia, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Collins Funeral Home handled arrangements. Military graveside services were held by American Legion Post 184 at his burial site at North McDonald Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion.
