OBITUARY

Amy-Died, in Penn township, Madison county, Iowa, July 6, 1889.
Guy, oldest son of Mr. And Mrs. John Amy, aged eleven years, one month and 22 days.

This little boy was rather frail and in feeble health from tender youth, his death being caused by a relapse of that dread disease, scarlet fever. He was a bright, promising boy, harmless and unoffending to his little brothers and sister, school and playmates; obedient to his parents and loved by all who knew him. Truly, in the loss of this dear boy a deep, dark shadow has crossed the threshold of the father and mother, and they will miss the little helps and many errands from his willing hands and swift feet, at their bidding. In this sad event be resigned to the will of the divine Father, and ever remember while the lifeless body of your loved boy is laid in the dark carnel of the grave, the spirit that will live forever has gone to dwell with God who gave it.

On the following Sunday, after a short funeral service at the home, the body was conveyed to the Stringtown cemetery, and there laid to rest.

Guy, our loved boy, is gone;
His voice we heard is stilled.
His chair is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
