Fred Danforth, Palm Desert, Calif.

Frederick Lowe Danforth was born in Winterset, on June 16, 1915, a son of Fred and Edna Danforth. He died September 29, 1984 in John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Indio, California.

He was a graduate of Winterset High School, class of 1932, later attending the University of Iowa.

He was married to Burdine Mae Kilker of Ida Grove, Iowa in 1936. A son Fred Jr. and a daughter, Jill were born to this union. Burdine died October 9, 1964. On June 1, 1967, he married Olga Jackson who survives him. The son and daughter also survive.

Fred was an engineer with the Southern Pacific Railroad for 34 years, never having an accident. He was qualified and held credentials in all aspects of railroading.

He was a member of the BPOE Lodge 2660, Palm Desert, California; a brother of Palm Desert F & AM No. 826; and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winterset.

Memorial services after cremation were held at the Palm Desert BPOE Lodge in Palm Desert on Tuesday, Oct. 2, Rev. Woody Caldwell, a lifelong friend, officiating.
