MADGE STEVENS Of Peru Dies

Mrs. Madge Stevens of Peru died Sunday, Sept. 10, 1961, at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 70 years of age.

Mrs. Stevens was a member of a pioneer Madison county family, a daughter of Henry and Sarah Ray Hoover of the Elm Grove community. Her father died earlier this year at the age of 102 years. She was born near Peru on Aug. 10, 1891.

She was married April 24, 1915 to Darwin Stevens. His death occurred in 1957.

Most of her life had been spent in Madison county. She was a member of the Elm Grove church.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Evelyn James of Anaheim, Calif., Mrs. Eliene Olson of Beverly Hills, Calif., Mrs. Lillian Blazer of Culver City, Calif., Marjorie Stevens of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Beverly Pickens of Omaha. She also leaves nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and five sisters, Mrs. Nan Childers of Des Moines, Mrs. Pearl Draper of Peru, Mrs. Ruby Imes of Arvada, Colo., Mrs. Rae Fenimore of Peru, and Mrs. Doris Stirts of Grimes.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, conducted by the Rev. W. C. Trembly. Burial was made in the King cemetery.
