Floyd J. Thomas of Winterset, retired Madison county farmer, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1969, at Madison Manor. He was 78 years of age.
Mr. Thomas was a life-time resident of Madison county. He was born in Webster township Aug. 11, 1893, a son of George and Ella Hampton Thomas. His active life was spent in farming but he had been retired in recent years.
For many years he was an active member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist church and in Winterset had attended the First United Presbyterian church. He was a former member of the Madison County Angus Cattlemens association.
He was married in 1917 at Strawberry point to Lillian Arnold who preceded him in death. His second marriage in 1935 was to Martha Boyce who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he leaves four children, Mrs. Donald Palmer of Albuquerque, N. Mex., Jack M. Thomas of Winterset, Wayne A. Thomas of Murray, and Mrs. James Jensen of Washington, Il. He also leaves 12 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Howard Hammans of Winterset, and two brothers, Vern Thomas of Greenfield and Dale Thomas of Palo Alto, California.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Clark-Wilson Funeral home in Winterset in charge of the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church here, and the Rev. Dale Golding of Winterset. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
