Robert A. Algoe died early Monday morning at his residence on West Washington street, after a long illness from dropsy and other complications at the age of 70 years. Mr. Algoe was well and favorably known in Winterset, where he has resided for the past nine years. He has been in failing health for the past year or two and it was five or six weeks ago that his condition became serious.
Mr. Algoe was born in Illinois, but spent most of the early part of his life in Nebraska, moving from there to the Peru neighborhood in 1893.
He is survived by his wife and five children, none of whom live at home except Miss Mary, who is employed at the Bell telephone office.
Funeral services were held at the residence on Wednesday, July 11 at two o'clock and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Page 1, Column 6Robert Alexander Algoe, one of the well known residents of Winterset, died at his home Monday, July 9th at 4:30 a.m. after a long illness. Mr. Algoe was born at Ottawa, Ill., La Salle county, November 25, 1852. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Algoe. He was 70 years, 7 months and 14 days of age at the time of his death. He moved to Owego township with his parents where he grew to manhood.
February 6, 1884 he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Wolf of Owego township, in which township they lived for two years. Then moving to Broken Bow, Nebraska, where they resided seven years, from there to Crawford county, where they remained seven more years. They then moved near Peru. Leaving the farm they moved to Winterset in 1914, where he retired until the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife and five children: David of Peru, John of Vail, Clarence of Peru, Mary at home and Mrs. Willard Criss of Peru. He is also survived by ten grandchildren. Besides these he leaves one brother, Dave of Council Bluffs and one sister, Mrs. Dunham of Olive, Montana, one half-brother, William of Canada, and a half-sister, Mrs. Shriner of Grand Island, and also a host of friends.
He untied with the Presbyterian church early in his youth and passed away in trust in Christ as his Savior.
Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton.
