RICHARD PATON Dies at 53 Years

Richard Paton, a former resident of Winterset, died Saturday, April 22, 1972, at Des Moines General hospital. He had been a patient there since undergoing major surgery Feb. 11. He was 53 years of age.

With his mother, Mr. Paton came to Winterset in 1933, following the death of his father. He attended the Winterset schools, graduating from Winterset High school.

He was married Oct. 16, 1941, to Betty Cox of Winterset. He had been employed as an accountant for a Des Moines law firm up to the time of his illness.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Gwen Kerr and Mrs. Jeanne Deal; two granddaughters; a sister, Martha Paton of Winterset; and a brother, Ralph Paton of Alexandria, Va.

Memorial services were held Monday from Westminister United Presbyterian church in Des Moines. He had dedicated his body to medical science at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
