Death of Mrs. Jeremiah Moore

Mrs. Jeremiah Moore, a pioneer settler of this county, died at her home in the northeast part of Winterset last Thursday, July 13, after a short illness. Mrs. Moore, who was nearly 84 years of age, had been ill for two weeks.

The deceased was a daughter of Anna and Josiah James, and was born in Indiana, July 16, 1849. When she was two years of age her parents brought her to this county in a covered wagon, drawn by a team of oxen. The family settled in this county and this has since been her home.

In 1878 she was married to Jeremiah Moore, and to them were born five children: S. W. Moore and Ben Moore of Waitsburg, Washington, Christena of Des Moines, Glen Moore and Effie Gibson of Winterset.

During the past sixteen years the Moores have resided in Winterset.

The Rev. Fred W. Madson conducted her funeral services, held at the Ramsey - Richards Funeral Home, Saturday afternoon, July 15th, at 2 o'clock, and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

In addition to her husband and five children, Mrs. Moore is survived by 18 grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. The pall bearers who served at her funeral service were Charles Addy, Stephen Parkins, Wes Smith, Arthur Gordon, Otto Kleatch and Ansel Fields.
