Services for Gilbert Lewis Akin, 91, Winterset, who died Aug. 7 at the Care Center North where he resided, were held Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born at Macksburg on Jan. 27, 1894, he was the son of Lewis and Lena Blohm Akin. He was a retired farmer and was a lifelong resident of Madison County.
Mr. Akin was a veteran of World War I and served in the Army overseas.
Survivors include a brother, Emory Akin of Loveland, Colo.; and sister, Fay Burger of Waukee and Opal Burger of Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and five sisters.
