Clara Agan, 97, of Peru died of a heart ailment Monday March 16, 1998, at Huntsville Memorial Hospital in Huntsville, Texas.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 19, at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Jon Gaul officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Clara Agan was born May 27, 1900 in Paxton, Ill., to John S. and Martha Fox Vannatta. She married Charles R. Agan Sept. 15, 1918 in Des Moines. She was a homemaker and farmer. She also was a member of the Peru United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Society. She was a resident of Madison County for 75 years, wintering in Texas for the past few years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Ray Vannatta.

She is survived by one son, Raymond Agan (wife Mary Lou) of Huntsville; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Peru United Methodist Church.
