Wednesday, October 19, 1932Death of Mrs. Eliza Addy
Mrs. Eliza Addy, who has been a resident of Winterset, for a number of years and of this county all her life, died at her home here Wednesday, October 12th, at the age of 62 years. Mrs. Addy was stricken with paralysis nine years ago and she became critically ill with what was thought to be slow cerebral hemorrhage last Wednesday morning.
The Rev. E. A. Elliott conducted her funeral services at the North River United Brethren church Friday afternoon, October 14th, at 2:30 o'clock, and burial was made beside her husband, in the North River (North McDonald) cemetery.
Mrs. Addy was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shultz and her girlhood was spent on a farm north east of Winterset. Her marriage to Hugh Clarke Addy took place, September 9, 1891, and they were the parents of seven children. They lived on a farm seven miles southwest of Van Meter, until his death seventeen years ago. In 1918 the family moved to Winterset.
She leaves two sons, Wyman of Van Meter and Vernie of St. Charles and four daughters, Cecelia Ballard of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Vivian Storrs; Leona and Lu Nita of Winterset. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. S. E. Trinrie of Van Meter, and one brother Artie Schultz of Des Moines and five grandchildren.

Sarah Eliza Shultz, daughter of Thomas and Ann Shultz was born in Madison county, April 7, 1870. Her girlhood was spent on a farm northeast of Winterset.
September 9, 1891, she was married to Hugh Clark Addy of Madison county. Seven children came to bless their home, three sons and four daughters.
With her family she lived on a farm about seven miles southwest of Van Meter until the death of her husband, after which she moved to Winterset where she lived until the time of her death.
About nine years ago Sister Addy was stricken with paralysis and gradually grew worse until God called her home October 12, 1932, aged 62 years, 6 months and 5 days.
Early in life she confessed Christ and was baptized and joined the North River United Brethren church and was a member of that church at the time of her death. That their mother was a Christian and a faithful worker in God’s vineyard will be a sweet memory for the children to cherish.
She leaves to mourn her death two sons, Vernie of St. Charles and Wyman of Van Meter, one son having died in infancy. Four daughters, Cecelia Ballard of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Vivian Storr, Leona Duncan and Lu Nita of Winterset; one sister, Mrs. S. E. Trindle of Van Meter and one brother, Artie Shultz of Des Moines. Also five grandchildren and many friends.
The funeral service was held in the North River United Brethren church on Friday afternoon at 2:30 and was conducted by the Rev. E. A. Elliott. Her body was laid to rest beside that of her husband in the North River cemetery.
