Rites for Bumbarger

Wesley Gordon Bumbarger, a 90-year-old resident of St. Charles, died Friday, July 4, 1975 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Mr. Bumbarger was born February 15, 1885 in Warren County, Iowa, the son of George Bumbarger and Rowenna Rundell. He was educated in the Warren County schools and married February 19, 1906 to Zella Mae Black in Osceola. The couple had four children.

Farming was Mr. Bumbarger’s occupation. He was affiliated with the Christian Church of St. Charles.

Surviving Mr. Bumbarger is a daughter, Mrs. Hershel (Garnetta) Shutt of Indianola; two sons, Wayne of St. Charles and Arlo of Carlisle, seven grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

Mr. Bumbarger was preceded in death by his wife in 1973, a daughter, Chloe, five grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services for Mr. Bumbarger were conducted Monday, July 7 from the Christian Church with burial at the St. Charles Cemetery. Rev. Eldon Ringle officiated.

Wesley Bumbarger, 90, died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on Friday, July 4, 1975. Funeral services were held from St. Charles Christina Church on Monday, July 7, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Eldon Ringle of St. Charles officiating.

Wesley Gordon Bumbarger was born February 15, 1885, in Warren County, Iowa, son of George Bumbarger and Roxanne Rundall Bumbarger. He attended schools in Warren County and on February 19, 1906, was married to Villa Mae Black in Osceola. Four children were born to this union.

He was a lifetime resident of the St. Charles community where he farmed and was a member of the St. Charles Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Garnetta Shutt and husband, Herschel of Indianola; son, Wayne Bumbarger and wife, Bonnie of St. Charles; son, Arlo Bumbarger and wife, Mona of Carlisle; seven grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Villa in 1973; one daughter, Chleo; five grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers.

Interment was in St. Charles Cemetery.
