Wilda Clara Phillips, 77, of Forest City died Jan. 3, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Center.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at North McDonald Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Madison County, with Pastor Alex Bauman officiating. A reception, hosted by Krisha Porter at 808 E. Buchanan, Winterset, will immediately follow the graveside services.
Wilda Phillips was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Winterset to Oliver and Blanche (Myers) Hendricks. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1944 and, upon graduation, worked in Des Moines for a bank and later in sales. In 1952, she married James W. Stepp of Des Moines. In 1968, she married Orville Glen Phillips of Eagle Grove. They resided in Eagle Grove following their marriage. Wilda taught adult and teen Sunday school at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. She also volunteered her service as chairperson for Meals on Wheels. Later, she moved to Forest City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; three brothers, William, Walter and Ralph Hendricks; and a sister, Ethel (Hendricks) Haines.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Stepp) Peters of Fertile; two sons, Jamie Stepp of Leland and Steve Stepp of Des Moines; two sisters, Laona (Hendricks) Goater and Margaret (Hendricks) Jones, both of Winterset; and five grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2004, at the North McDonald family cemetery near Winterset.
Wilda Clara (Hendricks) Phillips was born September 27, 1926 in Winterset, the daughter of Blanche (Myers) and Oliver Hendricks. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1944. Upon graduation, she worked in Des Moines for a bank and later in sales.
In 1952 she married James W. Stepp of Des Moines. Three children were born to that union., Cynthia, Jamie and Steven Stepp.
In 1968, Wilda married Orville Glen Phillips of Eagle Grove where she devoted her life to family and church. Often Wilda could be found teaching adult and teen Sunday School at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and was a active member of her congregation. She volunteered her service as chairperson for Meals on Wheels as well as other community organizations.
Wilda enjoyed cooking, antiquing, but most of all her family. She later moved to Forest City to be near her grandchildren. Wilda was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was a “second mom” to countless others, and always lived her life with quiet humility and integrity towards others. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by two sisters, Laona Goater and Margaret Jones, both of Winterset; a daughter, Cynthia Peters and her husband, Kim, of Fertile; her sons, Jamie Stepp, and wife, Dawn, of Leland; and Steve Stepp, of Des Moines; five grandchildren; Anne Peters, Jamie, Mackenzie, Doug and Noah Stepp. She was preceded in death by her husbands: James Stepp and Glen Phillips, her parents, Blanche and Oliver; three brothers, William, Walter and Ralph Hendricks; and on sister, Ethel Haines.
