Sarah Iva Garland of Winterset died last Friday at Horton's Nursing Home at age 81. She had lived in Madison County the past 61 years. Mrs. Garland was born December 24, 1890 in Adair County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Beaman. She was affiliated with the Methodist church.
She was married to Byron Garland October 6, 1909, in Greenfield. Mrs. Garland is survived by three children: Mrs. Orbah Murrell of Winterset, Leslie E. Garland of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Mrs. Frederick Ford of West Des Moines; three brothers, Charlie Beaman of Greenfield, Clarence Beaman of Temple City, California, and Floyd Beaman of Fullerton, California; and a sister, Mrs. Theodore Cook of Keosauqua, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, and one sister.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Waler A. Samp in charge. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
