Emory A. Aikin, 98, of Loveland, Colo., died June 10, 2002, at North Shore Manor.
A memorial service was held Thursday, June 13, at Allnutt Funeral Service in Loveland.
Emory Aikin was born Nov. 1, 1903, to Lewis and Lena (Blohm) Aikin of Macksburg. He was a 1928 graduate of Iowa State. On April 27, 1935, he married Mary Leola Shelley in Des Moines. His professional career included installing Delco Light Plants for Iowa farmers in the 1930s, owning and operating his own electric shop in Earlham and doing electrical work in Wisconsin, Arkansas and Utah in the 1940s for the Department of Defense. Emory also owned and operated the Aikin's Homemade Candy and Cherry Pie Shop west of Loveland for 17 years, retiring in 1977. A resident of Loveland since 1951, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge (50 years), Order of the Eastern Star (50+ years), International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 68 in Denver, Colo., (50 years) and First Christian Church of Loveland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by two daughters, Bev Buehler (husband Bob) of Loveland, Colo., and Mary Evelyn Ashbaugh (husband Alan) of Fort Collins, Colo.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
