MARLYS KILPATRICK, Lorimor

Marlys A. Kilpatrick, 89, of Lorimor, died Aug. 20, 2004, at her home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 24, at the United Methodist Church in Lorimor. Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery.

Marlys Kilpatrick was born July 22, 1915, to Van A. and Gladys (Lorimor) Garmon. She was the great-grand-daughter of Josiah S. Lorimor, founder of the town of Lorimor. She graduated from Lorimor High School and on Sept. 4, 1938, married Clyde R. Kilpatrick.

Marlys, a supporter and leader in the Lorimor community, was a member of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Merry Fu Book Club, Study Club, Royal Neighbors, Idle Hour, Lorimor Boosters, Stake IV, Lorimor Development Corporation and the Lorimor United Methodist Church, where she was active in UMW. She also had been a Cub Scout leader and PTA member.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Eugene Garmon Kilpatrick; and three brothers, Lester, Adrian and Nyal.

She is survived by two sons, Jack Kilpatrick and Larry Kilpatrick, both of Lorimor; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
