Obituary

Died Feb. 17, 1879, James H. Reed of North Branch, elder in the United Presbyterian Church, of conjestion (congestion) of the lungs, aged 47 years 2 months and 2 days.

Whereas God, in his providence, has removed our beloved brother, James H. Reed, a member of this Session therefore.

Resolved, 1. That we recognize in the death of our brother the hand of him who “doeth all things well.”

2. That we bear testimony to his efficiency and faithfulness as an elder; his unblamable Christian character and his integrity and worth as a citizen.

3. That as a session, remembering that our time is short and our hour always ready, we will now strive for more diillgenee (diligence) in the fuller consecration to the work God has given us to do.

4. That we hereby assure the bereaved family of our most active sympathy and commend them to a compassionate Savior and covenant-keeping God.

5. That a copy of these resolutions be furnished the United Presbyterian and Madisonian for publication and a copy sent to Mrs. Reed.
