Services for Emory Ackelson, 83, long-time resident of Madison county who died Aug. 30, at the Bethesda Care Center, were held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home.
Officiating was the Rev. Daniel Borger and burial was at the Peru cemetery.
He was born in Madison County Nov. 21, 1898 to James Ackelson and Josie Ann James. He was married to Gladys Leota Jeffs Sept. 17, 1919 at Winterset. Most of his life was spent in farming. He retired in 1970 and was a member of the Deer Creek Chapel.
Preceding him in death were his wife, a son, Garland, four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors are a son, Cecil Wayne Ackelson, Winterset; daughters, Marilyn Hutton, Betty Edgington, Darlene Hildreth, all of Ankeny; Josie Cramer, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; and Lois Sawhill, Winterset; and a brother, Ilot Ackelson, Des Moines.
