Garry Benona Rankin of Truro died May 8 at Des Moines General Hospital. He was 73 years of age.
A son of Frank Oliver and Ida Heacock Rankin, he was born at Truro on June 4, 1901. He was educated in the Truro schools, and on June 16, 1928 was married to Opal Bender at Creston, Iowa.
A life-long resident of the Truro community, Mr. Rankin worked on the railroad for 31 years.
Surviving are his wife, one sister, Geraldine Nicoson of Rolfe, Iowa; and a half-sister, Phyllis McMillin of Bedford, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two half-brothers, Dale and Claude Rankin.
Funeral services for Mr. Rankin were held this Monday afternoon, May 12, from the Kale Funeral Home in Truro, with the Rev. Richard Hempenins officiating. Burial was in the Young Cemetery near Truro.
