Connie Jane Maw, 53, of Winterset died of cancer April 14, 2003, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 18, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset with the Revs. Alex Bauman and John Safford officiating. Burial was at Union Cemetery, Madison Township, Clarke County.
Connie Maw was born Oct. 11, 1949, in Osceola to William Ezra and Margaret Jane (Kirk) Evison. She grew up on a farm in Madison County, attending Interstate 35 schools. She received a double-major degree in home economics and elementary education from the University of Northern Iowa.
Connie taught in the Winterset School District for 29 and one-half years. She had been a fifth-grade teacher since 1995. Prior to that, she had taught home economics in middle school and high school. She had been a resident of Winterset since her marriage to Jim Maw on June 8, 1974.
She was an active member of the Grace Baptist Church, involved in Bible school, choir and playing the piano. She also was a member of the Winterset Community Educational Association, National Education Association, Iowa State Education Association and the Child Welfare Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Jim, of Winterset; and two brothers, Rex Evison of Murray and Carol Evison of Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Regular Baptist Church Camp of Clear Lake, Iowa.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare of Winterset.
