EARLHAM-A funeral for J. Stanley Williamson, 88, of Earlham was held March 28, 1994 at the Friends Church. The cremains were interred in a private service at Earlham Cemetery. Mr. Williamson died on March 24 at Community Care Center of America at Winterset.
The son of John and Estella Williamson, he was born at Earlham on Sept. 24, 1905. He married Irene Norton on Dec. 24, 1927. They farmed north of Earlham until Irene’s death in February 1959. On May 28, 1960, he married Clella Price Shepard, and they have lived at Earlham since that time.
He had served on the Earlham Consolidated School board and the board of directors of the Farmers’ Cooperative Elevator for many years, and he was a member of the Earlham Friends Church. He also was a charter member of the Earlham Lions Club. He and his wife reigned as king and queen over the 1990 Earlham Fourth of July celebration.
Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his parents; by his first wife, Irene; by a sister Helen Bales; and by a grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Clella; two sons, John Williamson of Earlham and Jim Williamson of Cedar Falls; two step-daughters, Jean Waugh of Earlham and Sherry Hanley of Minneapolis, Minn.; a sister, Martha Clarkson; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
________________________Coordinator's note: Although there are claims that his first name is John, not a single vital record has been found that has any more than "J. Stanley" including his Iowa Delayed Certificate of Birth.
