CARL DAVIS

Carl Howard Davis, age 70, died Wednesday, November 19, 1986 in St. George, Utah. He was born May 25, 1916 in Earlham, Iowa, to George and Elizabeth Bane Davis. He married Lela M. Davis on July 6, 1942 in Los Angeles.

Mr. Davis is a veteran of World War II. During his time in the armed services he received the American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, with two Bronze Battle Stars, two Overseas services bars, one services stripe, good conduct medal and the Purple Heart Medal for being injured while in the line of duty in France. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Laurel Lodge 235 Willoroo, California, and a member of the American Legion. He had lived in Earlham, Iowa; Venice, California, Bakersfield, California; Seattle, Washington; Anchorage, Alaska; Las Vegas and in Roosevelt, Utah, before moving to St. George. He had worked as an oil field consultant. He was a Protestant and he loved all sports, especially golf.

Family members include his wife, Lela, of St. George; three sons, Donald R. Napier of Sunnyvale, California, Kenneth L. Napier of Las Gatos, California and Gary D. Napier of Carson City, Nevada; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Marion Davis of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Mable Brooker of Beaumont, California and LaVonna Vaughan of Creston, Iowa.

Graveside services were held Monday, November 24, 1986 at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Cemetery in Bakersfield, California, under the direction of the Metcalf Mortuary.
