HAROLD E. FREY Of Winterset Dies

Harold E. Frey of Winterset died Friday, Nov. 22, at Memorial hospital here. He was 71 years of age.

Mr. Frey had retired in 1962 after 43 years as an employee of the Northwestern Bell Telephone company.

He was a native of Lorimor, where he was born Jan. 4, 1897, a son of Otto and Mary McCauley Frey. He had lived in Madison county for 30 years.

As a young man he was married to Wilma Black. His second marriage, which occurred Oct. 5, 1920 at Creston, was to Laura A. Cook, who survives him.

Mr. Frey was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Lorimor Christian church, and the Masonic lodge.

In addition to his wife, he leaves seven children, Vernon E. Frey of Columbus, Nebr., Harold Frey, Jr., of Genoa, Nebr., Kenneth D. Frey of Winterset, Galen L. Frey of Chariton, Clarence E. Frey of Winterset, Mrs. Dorothy Porter of Winterset, and Mrs. Shirley Butler of Des Moines; 27 grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Bessie James of Davenport, Mrs. Velma Baker of Winterset, Mrs. Ruth Waugh of Dexter, Enia Frey of Creston, and Mrs. Mary Clarkson of Boone; and three brothers, Arthur and Fred Frey of Creston and Merlyn Frey of Earlham.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. William Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church here. Military honors were by Green-Rogers post of the American Legion. Burial was made in the Lorimor cemetery.
