HISTORY OF ALLEN KENWORTHY

Allen Kenworthy, son of Jesse and Mary Kenworthy was born February 19, 1871 on what is known as the Kenworthy homestead north of Earlham.

He was one of six children born into this family.

Allen lived his whole life in this community. His was a clean industrious life, and in all his dealings with his friends and neighbors he manifested a spirit of justice and brotherly love, this making and holding for himself the love and respect of all who knew him.

He was a birthright member of the Friends Church of which he remained a member until the time of his death.

Allen was married to Verda Wroe on February 19, 1891. To this union three children were born, Bruce R., Robert Troy, and Beryl Allen. The wife and these three sons, one sister Lydia Griffin, of San Diego, Calif., two grandchildren Alice Marie and Robert Kenworthy, and a number of other relatives and friends are left to mourn his departure.

During his life Allen was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and the Masonic Order. He has always been active in the affairs of government in his community and ever willing to carry his share of the burden in any undertaking.

For a considerable time before his death Allen had not been well, but his present serious illness dates from the middle of November. From them he gradually grew weaker until the evening of January 12th when he entered into rest. During his days of suffering he realized that life for him here was surely coming to a close and often he spoke of being ready to go home.
