Funeral services were conducted last Saturday morning from St. John's Catholic church at Cumming for Mrs. James Hanrahan.
Mrs. Hanrahan died Aug. 26, 1953, at Mercy hospital in Des Moines. She was 62 years of age.
The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence King, Mrs. Hanrahan was born in the Irish Settlement of Lee township in Madison county. She was a graduate of the St. Vincent's hospital school of nursing at Sioux City, Iowa.
On Jan. 22, 1924 she married James Hanrahan of Cumming, and the couple lived for several years on a farm west of Norwalk, later moving to a farm east of Prole. In 1939 the family moved to Des Moines, and in 1945 moved to Cumming, which has since been their home.
Just prior to her death, Mrs Hanrahan had been on duty as a nurse at Mercy hospital. She was a member of the Altar society of St. John's church.
Surviving are her husband (James), one daughter, Mrs. Richard Stanley of Booneville; one son, Larry of Cumming; three brothers, William King of Van Meter, Frank King of Prole and Lawrence King of Cumming.
Officiating at the funeral mass last Saturday was the Rev. Father Quick. Burial was in St. Patrick's cemetery in Lee township.
