JAMES L. HANRAHAN, Rural Cumming

Services for James L. Hanrahan, 63, rural Cumming, who died Friday, Sept. 1, 1989 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center of injuries suffered in a car accident, were held Tuesday, Sept. 5, at St. John's Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

The accident occurred on Highway 92 east of Winterset on Aug. 17. Mr. Hanrahan's car reportedly slammed into a gravel truck that was turning into a quarry.

He was a lifelong resident of Cumming and he owned Hanrahan TV Sales and Service for 25 years. He previously worked for the U.S. Weather Bureau and was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Dowling General Assembly in Des Moines. He was clerk of Lee township and chairman of the township election board and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Ione; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Johnson of Independence, Mo.; three stepsons, Al Sieren and Terry Sieren, both of Des Moines, and Roger Sieren of Cumming; a sister, Mary Ellen Stanley of Cumming; and six grandchildren.
