Heart Attack Tuesday Evening Is Fatal to Winterset Resident
Mrs. George Howard of Winterset died suddenly at her home on East Filmore street Tuesday evening of a heart attack. She was 51 years of age.
Mrs. Howard had been a resident of Winterset for the past 13 years. She was a native of Van Wert, where she was born Dec. 30, 1894. She was the former Vena Mae Breakenridge, daughter of Fred and Belle Breakenridge. They later moved to Indianola, where most of her early years were spent.
She was married to George Howard at Maryville, Mo., on Aug. 3, 1931. Shortly after that they came to Winterset to make her home. Here she had taken an active part in the affairs of the Church of the Foursquare Gospel, where she taught a Sunday school class and played the piano.
She is survived by her husband; her mother, Mrs. Belle Breakenridge of Winterset; three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Hommer of Indianola, Mrs. Howard Curtis of Des Moines and Mrs. Robert Stewart of Norwalk; three nephews in the armed services, Edward Hircock in the southwest Pacific, Leland Hommer who is home on furlough, and Ronald Hommer, some where in the Pacific; and 16 other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held this Friday from the Church of the Foursquare Gospel, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Melvin Hansen.
