Leonard Charles Scar, son of Fredrick John and Ethel C. Scar, passed away September 19, 1984 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Leonard was born October 13, 1926 at the Scar family farm near Earlham, Iowa.

He was baptized in infancy into the Lutheran faith by Rev. Kurt Daib and was confirmed July 13, 1941 at Dexter Zion Luteran Church. Leonard graduated from Earlham High School in 1944 and served his country in the Army during World War II.

Leonard was united in marriage to Dorothy Aurand on December 8, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa, and to this union were born three children, Susan, Cindy and Steve, all of Earlham.

He was preceded in death by his parents and he leaves to mourn his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Mrs. William (Susan) Smith and Mrs. Monty (Cindy) Smith; a son, Steve; four grandchildren, Christi, Brad, Joshua and Jennifer; one brother, Norman of Earlham, and one sister, Alice Bruns, of Chandler, Arizona.

Funeral services were conducted on September 22, 1984 at the Dexter Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter, Iowa, with Pastor David Rempfer officiating. Organist was Diana Sexe. Pallbearers were Mark Aurand, Daryl Scar, Dwayne Scar, Roger Ott, Earl Newman and Paul Newman. Interment was in Penn Center Cemetery, rural Earlham, Iowa.
