Inez Jackson, 97, of Clarkston, Wash., died April 1, 1999.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 5, at Merchants Funeral Home in Clarkston, with Pastor Steve Huey officiating. A memorial service will be held today at 6:30 p.m. (Wednesday, April 7) at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Winterset under the direction of Joe Saxton and Pastor George King. Burial will take place at Winterset Cemetery.
Inez Jackson was born July 12, 1901, to Clint and Florence McDowell of Evansville, Ind. She married Alvin R. Jackson on Dec. 29, 1920. They made their home in Winterset where, for a few years, they owned and operated the Corner Cafe at the southeast corner of the square. In 1983, she moved to Clarkston.
Inez was a longtime member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Winterset and was church treasurer and Sabbath School teacher for children for many years. She also was involved in the Dorcas Society work of the children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, one brother and a daughter.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Van Dyk of Clarkston; 4 grandchilren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
